Many will now mourn this talented rock star.

Chester Bennington’s professional artistic career is riddled with impressive collaborations and artistic vision. His musical style and distinctive voice propelled Linkin Park to international fame with hits like, ‘In the End,’ ‘Numb’ and ‘What I’ve Done.’ He engaged in other projects including post-grunge rock band Dead by Sunrise and international band Sons of Chaos, which features members from Velvet Revolver, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith and more. The vocalist got his start singing in Arizona bands. He grew discouraged with his music career until a Los Angeles music producer gave him the chance to audition with the musicians who would eventually form Linkin Park. The success of their first album, Hybrid Theory, launched them to commercial popularity and fame. They have continued to create chart-topping albums over the years. Bennington received a Grammy in 2006 for his collaboration with Jay-Z on the track, ‘Numb/Encore.’ At the time of Bennington’s death Linkin Park was touring, scheduled for an upcoming performance alongside band Blink 182.

The self-professed drug addict turned to dangerous substances like meth and cocaine as a way to numb the lingering pain of his sexually abusive childhood. He entered a period of recovery where he publicly stated he had put the addiction behind him, but resumed alcohol abuse at some point. As of 2011, he was reportedly sober.

Bennington leaves behind six children and wife Talinda Bentley.
